What is pennsylvania central airlines?

Pennsylvania Central Airlines (PCA) was a domestic airline that operated in the northeastern United States from 1936 until 1955. The airline was founded by a prominent Pennsylvania family, the duPonts, who also owned and operated its predecessor, the Wilmington and Philadelphia Traction Company.

PCA's headquarters was located in Philadelphia and it primarily serviced the mid-Atlantic and northeast regions with a fleet of propeller-driven aircraft. The airline was known for its reliable and comfortable service and was one of the few airlines that provided a hot meal to passengers on board.

In 1953, PCA merged with Bonanza Air Lines and became known as Pennsylvania Central Airlines/Bonanza. However, just two years later, the airline was acquired by Capital Airlines and its operations were merged into Capital's system. PCA's legacy lived on, as its merger with Bonanza was the beginning of the formation of what is now known as United Airlines.
